9:00 – 10:00 a.m. – 2025 Labor & Employment Updates: Change is in the Air
Attorney Panel Discussion: Andrew Levy, Kelley Kaufman, and Austin Wolfe
This fast-paced session will highlight the most significant of the many changing legal obligations during the first year of the Trump 2.0 administration, including federal pushback against DEI initiatives and reverse discrimination, immigration enforcement, and the labor law shift underway at the NLRB.

10:00 – 10:30 a.m. – Developing Policies and Processes to Avoid Wrongful Termination Claims
Speakers: Kelley Kaufman and Kristen Evans – HR Influenced
In this session, we will discuss the importance of maintaining documents and implementing effective policies to facilitate a culture of compliance. We will talk about strategies for developing high-quality, reliable records for events such as employee discipline and discharge, harassment complaints, leaves of absence, and other notable events in the employment life cycle. We will also discuss red flags for employers to identify before walking into a wrongful termination or retaliation claim. Whether you are a seasoned HR professional or just looking for the basics of employment law, this session will offer helpful insights for every employer.

10:30 – 11:00 a.m. – Wage and Hour Law (including Prevailing Wage) Overview and Update
Speakers: Austin Wolfe and Andrew Levy
We will discuss overtime compliance issues in Pennsylvania, including what counts as hours worked under state and federal law, proper calculation of the regular rate of pay, and exempt status issues. This session will also cover the latest updates on prevailing wage compliance, including the status of the 2023 US DOL regulations interpreting the Davis-Bacon Act. Minimum wage and overtime compliance is especially complex in Pennsylvania due to the broad interpretation provided to the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act, and wage & hour class action claims can be costly. Make sure you are on top of the latest issues in this rapidly developing area.

11:15 – 11:45 a.m. – OSHA Preparedness and Workplace Safety
Speakers: Rochelle Koerbel and Andrew Levy
Knowledge is power. Understand OSHA’s process for conducting inspections, scheduled or unannounced, the investigative process, the top ten citations issued, and the appeals process in this session. We will review OSHA reporting and recordkeeping requirements, best practices for managing the inspection process, and discuss strategies to minimize potential exposure and maximize employee safety.
