Insurance

When an insurer delays or denies a claim, the financial impact can extend well beyond the loss itself. We help policyholders pursue the coverage their policies should provide.

Our focus

Insurance disputes often begin after a business has already absorbed a serious loss. A denied claim can leave the policyholder carrying costs that the insurer was expected to cover.

We help businesses pursue coverage under commercial insurance policies. We also advise professionals when a disputed claim affects their practice or livelihood. We handle all aspects of insurance coverage disputes, from breach-of-contract claims to declaratory judgment actions to bad-faith litigation.

For more than 40 years, we have assisted clients in reviewing their insurance policies, identifying the strongest coverage position. From there, we help clients decide whether to negotiate with the carrier or move into litigation.

Coverage issues often arise alongside another legal dispute. A construction claim may trigger questions about liability coverage. An environmental matter may raise separate questions about the insurer’s duty to defend or indemnify. When that happens, we work with the attorneys handling the underlying matter so the coverage strategy supports the wider dispute.

Some claims can be resolved through focused negotiation. Others require litigation to enforce the policy. Either way, we help clients choose the path that best protects their interests.
