Overview

Rick represents clients in all aspects of leasing throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania, from the initial lease application through the end of the tenancy. He represents and defends property owners and managers in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts, in matters involving residential and commercial landlord-tenant matters, including breach of lease, tenant holding over, and other possessory actions, fair housing, bankruptcy, defense of rent escrow and habitability complaints, debt collection, and consumer protection matters.

In his real estate practice, Rick assists with drafting leases and related documents and updating them in accordance with developments in the law. He also represents condominiums, cooperative housing communities, and homeowners associations, drafts and interprets governing documents and opinion letters, and assists with the collection of delinquent assessments.

Rick’s practice additionally includes representation of creditors in bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings and handling estate administration matters.

Before joining McNees, Rick was a partner at Sagal, Filbert, Quasney & Betten, P.A., a Towson-based boutique real estate law firm.

Rick serves as member-in-charge of McNees’ Towson, Maryland office.
