Employment issues rarely unfold on a convenient schedule. An employee complaint, accommodation request, leave question, labor dispute, or government investigation may require action before every fact is known. We help employers respond to the immediate issue while considering the legal and operational consequences of the decision.
We partner with employers to address the federal and state laws governing the workplace and advise employers on multi-state compliance. Our attorneys conduct human resources audits and workplace investigations, develop policies and handbooks, and train supervisors, managers, and employees. We also advise on affirmative action, family and medical leave, occupational safety and health, wage and hour compliance, unemployment compensation, and other regulatory obligations.
When a matter becomes contested, we defend employers before state and federal administrative agencies and in state and federal courts. Our experience includes discrimination and harassment claims, wrongful discharge, whistleblower claims, wage and hour litigation, and restrictive covenant disputes. We also represent public- and private-sector employers in labor negotiations, labor arbitration, and other disputes with unions. We assist non-union employers with union organizing campaigns as well.
Many clients rely on us for both day-to-day counseling and significant disputes. We develop long-term partnerships with clients to understand their businesses and culture. We learn how their organizations operate and develop strategies around their workforce, goals, and approach to risk. Our team also includes employee benefits, executive compensation, workplace safety (OSHA), and workers’ compensation attorneys, allowing us to bring the appropriate experience to the issue while maintaining continuity across the relationship.
We help employers strengthen compliance through human resources audits, internal and external investigations, workplace policies, employee handbooks, and training for supervisors, managers, and employees. Our counseling includes affirmative action, family and medical leave, wage and hour requirements, unemployment compensation, occupational safety and health, and other statutory and regulatory obligations.
We defend employers in discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, wage and hour, and other employment claims. We represent clients before state and federal administrative agencies and in state and federal courts.
We advise public and private-sector employers on labor negotiations, contract administration, labor arbitration, interest arbitration, and other disputes involving unions.
We advise employers on savings, retirement, pension, and health and welfare plans, as well as executive compensation arrangements. Our work includes ERISA compliance, fiduciary obligations, multiemployer pension matters, and benefits-related litigation.
We help employers address noncompete agreements and other restrictive covenant matters. When disputes arise, we represent clients in litigation involving the enforceability and alleged violation of those obligations.
We help employers develop injury-prevention strategies and respond when workplace injuries occur. Our attorneys defend employers facing workers’ compensation claims and advise on the employment issues that may accompany an injured worker’s return to the workplace.
