Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation

Employee benefits and compensation programs must support the workforce without creating unnecessary costs or compliance risks. We help employers design, administer, and defend plans aligned with their business priorities.

Our focus

Employee benefit and compensation programs can influence workforce strategy, operating costs, and long-term business planning. They also carry continuing tax, regulatory, and administrative obligations. We help employers develop and maintain programs that work for the organization and the people they are intended to support.

Our interdisciplinary team brings together employee benefits, tax, labor and employment, corporate, and litigation experience. We advise on qualified retirement plans, including ESOPs, welfare benefit plans, fringe benefits, and executive compensation programs. Our work also includes advising clients related to single- and multi-employer plans.

We help clients address ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, including the Affordable Care Act’s requirements, and other federal compliance obligations. Our attorneys draft and update plan documents, conduct compliance audits, and prepare governmental filings. When benefit claims or disputes arise, we help employers evaluate the issue and represent them in related litigation.

Benefits and compensation issues can also influence mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions. We work with transaction teams to identify plan-related obligations and address them as part of the deal. By connecting benefits advice with the organization’s broader workforce and business strategy, we help clients meet immediate requirements while keeping the program’s long-term purpose in view.
