Overview

David advises clients on protecting and managing their intellectual property, including utility patents, design patents, and related litigation.

He prepares and prosecutes U.S. and foreign patent applications across a range of technologies, provides freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions, and assists clients in asserting or defending patent and trademark claims in federal court. He draws on his extensive scientific background in chemistry, including catalytic, inorganic, organic, and analytical chemistry, to support clients ranging from Fortune 50 corporations to first-time inventors.

In addition to patent work, he has handled criminal and white-collar defense matters and supported clients in complex civil disputes.

Before joining McNees, David conducted graduate and post-doctoral research in methanol-to-olefin zeolite catalysis at the University of Southern California and ExxonMobil Chemical. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including Angewandte Chemie, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Journal of Catalysis.
