Geoff represents innovators, manufacturers, and technology-driven companies in complex, high-value intellectual property matters, helping them protect and commercialize core innovations. Drawing on experience in private practice and in-house leadership roles, he brings a commercially grounded perspective that positions intellectual property not just as legal protection but as a driver of enterprise value. He advises clients across advanced manufacturing sectors, including the semiconductor, analytical instrumentation, life science, construction robotics, and energy industries.
He advises on the full lifecycle of intellectual property assets, helping clients identify, protect, leverage, and monetize innovation. His practice centers on patent prosecution, strategic portfolio development, and enforcement planning and risk avoidance. Geoff works closely with business and technical teams to design forward-looking IP strategies that support commercialization goals, align with product roadmaps and investment priorities, and reinforce competitive advantage.
Geoff represents clients ranging from startups to multi-billion-dollar organizations in licensing negotiations, technology transfer matters, and complex commercial and product development agreements. He supports intellectual property diligence in mergers, acquisitions, financings, and other strategic transactions. Geoff frequently serves as strategic outside counsel, helping companies oversee and coordinate their IP legal work while aligning protection strategies with broader business objectives. He routinely prepares non-infringement and invalidity opinions and counsels clients on trade secret protection, trademark strategy, copyright considerations, and emerging AI-related IP risks. As outside counsel, Geoff also draws on broader experience spanning human resources, corporate transactions, commercial and government contracting, quality and compliance audits, privacy, environmental matters, export controls, international law, and joint venture negotiations.
Geoff has held senior operating and legal roles across technology-driven companies, including, most recently, serving as chief operating officer at Advanced Construction Robotics, where he grew the value of its intellectual property while managing operations. He also recently served as the chief innovation officer and general counsel at Grouse Ridge Capital, where he identified and evaluated investment opportunities in early-stage companies. In this role, he gained valuable insight into the investment dynamics that shape the commercialization and scaling of start-up companies.
He continues to serve part-time as general counsel and longtime board member at SilcoTek Corporation, a chemical vapor deposition services provider for the semiconductor, analytical instrumentation, life science, and energy industries that has solved technical problems for customers throughout the world (and beyond this world).
Passionate about intellectual property education and entrepreneurship, Geoff collaborates on research with the University of Cambridge Institute for Manufacturing, the Center for Technology Management, and the Innovation and IP Management group, focusing on aligning IP decision-making with both strategic and economic value creation.
He actively participates in the Penn State University Startup Leadership Network (SLN), which accelerates technology startups through talent matchmaking and guidance on development and market entry. Through the program, Geoff has served on the advisory boards of several Penn State startups, ranging from companies developing 3D-printed and robotics-enabled concrete solutions to a company focused on agricultural disease detection.
Geoff has been named to IAM Strategy 300, “The World’s Leading IP Strategists,” multiple times and frequently speaks on intellectual property strategy at international and domestic conferences and universities. He also serves as board president of Keystone State Music Theater, where he provides pro bono guidance on licensing and performance rights.
