Christian practices in the Litigation and Privacy & Data Security Groups and focuses on helping clients navigate the rapidly evolving data privacy legal landscape. He serves all types of clients including small, medium, regional, national and international businesses, and non-profit institutions such as healthcare systems and universities.

He regularly provides counsel on compliance with state and federal privacy laws including:

• The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA);
• The California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA);
• The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA);
• The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA);
• Wiretap laws;
• General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); and
• Other international privacy laws.

Christian is experienced with helping clients anticipate and mitigate their risks through the development of data security and privacy policies, internal procedures, breach and incident response plans, and data processing addendums as part of complex and cross-border transactions. He provides guidance to clients on responding to data breaches, ransomware attacks, and other information security incidents. When litigation matters arise, Christian has experience defending clients in state and federal court, including on commercial breach of contract claims; non-compete, non-solicit, and restrictive covenant matters; internal investigations; and grand jury investigations.

Prior to joining McNees, Christian gained five years of experience as a cybersecurity consultant for global consulting firms Accenture and Deloitte. In these roles, he helped international companies and public agencies develop systems and policies to safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) and and other sensitive personal information of millions of individuals and households. Christian also helped clients navigate complicated privacy, security, and compliance frameworks and develop and implement solutions that supported their business goals while protecting customer and stakeholder data.

He is originally from central Pennsylvania and pleased to focus his legal practice in the region. When not serving clients, Christian spends his time time in his workshop, traveling, hiking and enjoying the outdoors with his wife and daughter.
