Drew Crompton Named Chair of Pennsylvania Appellate Court Procedural Rules Committee

Published 07/06/2022

HARRISBURG, Pa. — (July 6, 2022) McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Drew Crompton, former Commonwealth Court judge and longtime Pennsylvania State Senate general counsel, was named chair of the Appellate Court Procedural Rules Committee.

The 15 members, knowledgeable in state appellate practice, are responsible for making recommendations to the Supreme Court that refine and update the rules of appellate procedure.

“I look forward to continuing the strong leadership of Judge Patricia A. McCullough and addressing numerous appellate rules to aid practicing lawyers in their appeals,” Crompton said.

With nearly 30 years of experience in all three branches of Pennsylvania government, Crompton’s practice stretches across disciplines — he handles matters related to state government, including energy- and Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission-related matters; gaming; state agency rules; election law; government procedure; and crisis management.

Crompton joined McNees after serving on the Commonwealth Court, where he heard administrative and civil public law cases and wrote more than 150 published and unpublished opinions. Previously, he spent 26 years serving the Pennsylvania Senate, managing dozens of high profile and extensive civil and criminal litigation cases — including redistricting cases, the NCAA matter, budget disputes and separation of power cases —and drafting hundreds of state statutes affecting local and state tax laws, state agencies, education, health care, transportation and business development.
