8:00 – 9:00a – Welcome and State & Local Tax Update We will discuss the applicability of Pennsylvania sales and use tax on construction projects and materials, with an emphasis on the manufacturing and public utility exclusion. Additionally, we will discuss best practices for exemption certificates and the process for filing sales and use tax refunds. Break 9:15 to 10:15a – Labor and Employment Law Update for the Construction Firm 2023 saw major developments in labor and employment law. In this fast-paced session, we will take a look at key labor law developments, including some jaw dropping decisions by the National Labor Relations Board. We will also briefly review the Prevailing Wage changes brought about by the Final Rule that took effect at the end of 2023. 10:15 to 11:30a – Construction Construction contractors face complex challenges in getting paid in today’s construction market.
