McNees’ Devin Chwastyk Earns CIPP/US Certification

HARRISBURG, PA – McNees attorney Devin J. Chwastyk has earned the designation of Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

The CIPP designation is credentialed to those who demonstrate a strong foundation in global privacy and data protection law and practice, with a concentration on U.S. privacy laws and regulations, including:

  • Jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models, or rules and standards;
  • Essential privacy concepts and principles;
  • Legal requirements for handling and transferring data.

Devin is Chair of the McNees Privacy & Data Security Group, and practices as Of Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group.  He counsels the firm’s clients with regard to privacy issues, including the development of data security policies and data breach response plans.  He also assists clients in responding to data breaches, including in rectifying, investigating, and reporting hacking and other data exposure events.  He otherwise focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, including the defense of class action lawsuits.

Devin received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude, and his undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University.  He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third and Ninth Circuits; and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.  He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Dauphin County Bar Associations, where he serves as Vice-Chair of the Equal Professional Opportunity Committee and on the Board of Directors.
