McNees Attorney to Speak on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 in Western Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG, Pa. – (April 25, 2018) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC attorney Kimberly Colonna is slated to deliver a presentation at Riverview Intermediate Unit #6 in Clarion on what school administrators need to know about Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. 

The session will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Section 504 is an anti-discrimination, civil rights statute that prohibits discrimination based on disability.

Kim is chair of the McNees Education Law group and practices in the Litigation group.  She represents universities, colleges, school districts, charter schools and other providers of educational services.  Kim often advises clients on student and faculty rights and compliance with federal and state laws.  She also helps with policy development and provides training on how to avoid liability risk.  Kim has extensive experience with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Campus Security Act, the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  She also represents educational institutions in litigation.
