Joseph Welty receives 2025 Bar Association of Frederick County YLS Mentorship Award

FREDERICK, Md. (December 12, 2025) McNees Of Counsel Joseph Welty has been named the recipient of the 2025 YLS Mentorship Award, presented by the Bar Association of Frederick County (BAFC)’s Young Lawyers Section. Joe has been selected because of the lasting impact he has consistently demonstrated on mentoring young lawyers in the Frederick County legal community.

Joe has been a leader in the legal field and the Frederick community for nearly 50 years. He counsels clients on a range of important legal matters, including real estate transactions, leases, contract negotiation and preparation, and general corporate and commercial matters.

“Mentorship has always been about paying forward the guidance and support I’ve received throughout my career,” said Joe. “Helping young lawyers grow and succeed strengthens our entire legal community, and I’m honored to be recognized for something that brings me so much fulfillment.”

Throughout his 50 years as a member of the Frederick legal community, Joe has given back at every turn,” said Paul Rose, the member in charge of the firm’s Frederick office. “As a mentor for so many young attorneys, Joe is absolutely deserving of this recognition.”

In addition to his legal practice and service to the legal community, Joe is active on the board of directors for the Ausherman Family Foundation, Ausherman Family Trust, and Family Heritage Trust Company.
