FREDERICK, Md. — (Feb. 1, 2023) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC today announced the addition of three experienced and well-known local attorneys to its growing Frederick office.

Joseph S. Welty has been practicing law in Frederick for nearly 50 years. He joins McNees after a long and successful career at a larger Maryland firm headquartered in Baltimore, where he had previously served as president and chairman. Kendall A. Camuti and Cody S. Weinberg also join from the same firm, bringing their experience in real estate, construction, corporate and tax law, among others, to McNees.

McNees has rapidly expanded its presence in Maryland over the past year, adding legal talent and most recently moving to larger offices in the Riverside Five complex on Progress Drive to accommodate the firm’s growth.

“We have a rich history of serving clients in Frederick County and throughout Maryland, and we are thrilled to continue to grow our impressive team here,” McNees Chair Brian Jackson said. “Joe Welty has been a leader in the legal community for decades, and he brings with him two of Frederick’s rising stars in Kendall and Cody. Together, they strengthen both our already deep bench of legal talent in Frederick and our relationships within the community we so proudly serve.”

Welty joins McNees’ Real Estate and Construction Group, where he brings a wealth of experience in a range of real estate and non-real-estate issues. His services include real estate transactions and leases; contract negotiation and preparation; estate, asset and business planning; and a variety of general corporate and commercial matters. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® for Corporate Law for 2021-22.

A longtime member of the community and a member of the Maryland Bar since 1974, Welty has continued to be active in the community. He is also a member of the board of trustees for The Merle Thorpe Charitable Trust.

Welty earned his J.D. from Marshall-Wythe School of Law at College of William & Mary and his bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Mary’s University.

“After nearly 50 years serving this community in a variety of capacities, and watching it grow, I’m excited to join a firm that is growing and evolving with the Frederick community,” Welty said. “McNees isn’t just practicing law. They’re building a community-minded, multi-specialty firm that is focused on Frederick clients and the future, and it’s energizing for me to be a part of that.”
