Energy regulatory attorney Susan Bruce, co-chair of McNees’ Energy & Environmental Law Group, has been named president of the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association (CFEBA). The foundation is a non-profit that supports energy-related charitable projects, with a mission to improve people’s lives, both domestically and globally.

Bruce has been an active member of CFEBA, serving on its Board since 2020 and holding roles including Grants Committee chair (2023–2024), Secretary (2024–2025), and Vice President (2025–2026).

“I am honored to serve as president of CFEBA. The Foundation plays a vital role in supporting valuable energy-related charitable initiatives that make a difference,” said Bruce. “I look forward to working with the CFEBA Board, EBA members, chapters, and friends to further the CFEBA’s mission of making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.”

Initiatives supported by the CFEBA in 2025 included four different projects with a common goal of increased electricity access and reliability for communities in need across the globe: (1) Heart of America received a grant to install stand-alone, roof mounted solar kits on student homes in the Navajo Nation not connected to the electrical grid, enabling more student households to live with electricity, improving their quality of life and ability to study in the evenings; (2) Solar Electric Light Fund received a grant toward construction of a Mediation Training & Legal Aid Center in Kenya, using clean energy to advance legal access, reduce poverty, and strengthen climate resilience; and (3) Action for Grassroots Womens’ Empowerment (AGWE) received a grant to construct a community solar dryer used to create biomass briquettes from community crops and waste as a means to address food insecurity; and (4) the Footprint Project was awarded funding to assist in their immediate recovery efforts in Jamaica, after the area was devastated by Hurricane Melissa.

Bruce is also a member of the firm’s Renewable Energy & Corporate Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Groups, advising public and private sector clients on state and federal energy regulation, complex transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, and renewable energy arrangements.
