HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 27, 2026) – McNees Wallace & Nurick announced today the 2026 awardees of its Legal Equity Advancement Program (LEAP), with 12 businesses selected to receive one year of comprehensive legal services.

The announcement was made during a reception honoring this year’s LEAP awardees at the administrative headquarters of Members 1st Federal Credit Union in Enola, Pa.

This year’s LEAP recipients represent a broad range of industries and community needs, including affordable housing, healthcare compliance, caregiving technology, counseling, wellness, food access, STEM education, communications, laundry services and support for military members and first responders.

Since launching in 2020, LEAP has supported 34 underrepresented businesses across Pennsylvania, Maryland and Ohio. The program was created to help business owners who may not otherwise have access to legal counsel receive guidance on issues that are critical to growth, stability and opportunity.

Each awardee will receive up to $30,000 in legal services at no cost from McNees attorneys during the program year, which began May 1. Support includes business formation and corporate governance, labor and employment law compliance, real estate and contract negotiations, intellectual property protection, and guidance on Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification.

“The businesses we work with through LEAP are making a significant impact in their communities,” said Adeolu Bakare, McNees attorney and LEAP co-chair. “This program is about more than just legal services; it’s about empowering entrepreneurs who likely would not otherwise have access to counsel with the tools and knowledge they need to grow sustainably.”
