McNees Attorneys and Specialist to Speak at Manufacturers’ Education Council Seminar

HARRISBURG, Pa. – (Tuesday, September 25, 2018) McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC attorneys Pamela Polacek and Matthew Pritchard, as well as specialist Kevin Murray, are slated to present at the Northern Ohio & Western Pennsylvania Energy Management Institute in Akron, Ohio on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

Pamela will take part in a session offering insight on significant Pennsylvania regulatory and legislative developments, including the potential “nuclear bailout”, alternative ratemaking initiatives and the PUC’s Combined Heat and Power policy statement.

In a separate session, Matthew and Sonny Fanelli of FirstEnergy Corp. will discuss significant FirstEnergy Ohio rate components, appeals of FirstEnergy’s energy efficiency and electric security plans, impacts from reduction in federal corporate income tax, and impact of FirstEnergy Solutions’ pending bankruptcy on utility rates.

Kevin and Lou D’Alessandris of FirstEnergy Corp. will provide an advanced session on PJM’s response to FERC’s resilience proceedings, changes to energy price formation and the latest PJM effort to address fuel security issues as part of PJM’s capacity market.

Pamela practices in the McNees Energy and Environmental Practice Group. She has extensive experience in implementing electric supply competition in Pennsylvania and other states. She advises clients regarding commercial, legal, regulatory and legislative opportunities and risks in the electric and natural gas industries. She assists clients in analyzing and negotiating wholesale and retail natural gas and electricity contracts, as well as addressing other utility service requirements. In addition, she represents and advises cable telephony providers, local exchange carriers and interexchange carriers, before various state and federal administrative agencies and courts.

Matthew also practices in the McNees Energy and Environmental Practice Group and focuses on the counsel of large industrial and commercial customers with facilities in Ohio on energy and utility matters. He regularly appears before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) on a diverse range of energy and utility matters ranging from the litigation of utility rate cases, participation in cases involving the implementation of Ohio’s energy efficiency and renewable energy requirements, participation in PUCO rulemaking proceedings, and participation in various other matters that address the PUCO’s oversight over public utilities and their rates.

Kevin is a Technical Specialist in the McNees Energy and Environmental Practice Group and is the Executive Director of the Industrial Energy Users-Ohio. He focuses on monitoring and evaluating regulatory proceedings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and various state agencies; provides analysis of proposed tariff or rate offerings; assists in the development of regulatory and commercial strategies; and provides clients’ assistance in utility contract negotiations, utility and site selections for new facilities, competitor analysis and analysis of customer usage patterns. He has been active in the creation of regional transmission organizations and presently serves on the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc.’s Advisory Committee.
