TOWSON, Md. (July 15, 2025) — McNees Wallace & Nurick today announced that real estate attorney Jeffrey Nover has joined the firm’s Towson office, expanding its real estate and real estate finance capabilities.

Nover brings more than a decade of experience in commercial real estate finance and structured lending. His practice includes acquisition and refinance loans, construction lending and loan modifications. He has led complex, high-value finance transactions, including those involving federal and state tax credits such as Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits and New Markets Tax Credits. His clients include lenders, government-sponsored enterprises and financial institutions. He also handles property sales and acquisitions, secured lending transactions, title and survey review, and regulatory compliance.

He has led deals exceeding $3 billion in value and has served as lead counsel on structured credit facilities backed by large portfolios of multifamily housing, including affordable, market-rate, manufactured, senior, and student housing properties across the country. In addition to his transactional work, he advises clients on risk mitigation strategies, business formation and regulatory compliance.

“Our Towson office continues to grow in response to the evolving needs of our clients,” said Alan Betten, member of McNees’ Towson office. “Having practiced in Baltimore for many years, Jeff shares McNees’ commitment to the community and the clients in our backyard.”

Jonathan D. Andrews, co-chair of the Real Estate Group, said Nover’s arrival enhances the firm’s ability to support clients navigating complex transactions.

“Jeff strengthens our ability to support clients facing sophisticated financing and development challenges,” Andrews said. “His experience with layered financial structures and national lending makes him a valuable resource for our clients and team.”

Before joining McNees, Nover practiced at Venable LLP in its Baltimore office, where he advised a major government-sponsored enterprise on complex commercial real estate lending strategies. His work also includes pro bono counsel to nonprofits and small businesses, earning him the Benjamin R. Civiletti Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award in 2022. Nover currently serves on the boards of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and One House at a Time, a nonprofit that helps to revitalize vacant properties in Baltimore.

“I was drawn to McNees because of its culture of collaboration,” said Nover. “It’s meaningful to work on projects in my own community and see firsthand the impact they have. Being able to pair that with a team that values trust made this a clear fit.”

Nover earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan.
