Labor and employment attorney Denise Elliott spoke on January 29 at the Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability (PAR) HR Committee meeting on “High Stakes – Medical Marijuana in the ID/A Workplace,” where she provided HR leaders from intellectual disability and autism service provider organizations with practical legal guidance on managing medical marijuana issues in the workplace.
The presentation examined Pennsylvania’s evolving legal marijuana landscape and recent trends affecting employer policies, with a focus on safety‑sensitive, 24/7 care environments. Denise addressed key considerations related to employee accommodations, drug testing, discipline, and workforce management in the ID/A sector.
Denise is a member of McNees’ Labor and Employment Practice Group, focusing her practice on defending employers in workers’ compensation matters and representing public and private sector employers in employment discrimination and harassment litigation, as well as ADA and FMLA compliance, workplace safety, and drug and alcohol testing issues.
