HARRISBURG, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2025) — McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Robert A. “Bob” Weishaar, Jr. has been named the 2025 recipient of the Paul E. Nordstrom Service Award, presented on September 16 at the Energy Bar Association (EBA) Annual Energy Forum in Washington, D.C.
Created in memory of past EBA President Paul Nordstrom, the award recognizes exemplary public service by a current or past member to the community through work with the EBA, its Charitable Foundation (CFEBA), or the Foundation of the Energy Law Journal (FELJ). Bob joins a distinguished group of past recipients, including several past Presidents of the EBA and CFEBA.A past president of the EBA, Bob has held leadership roles across the association for more than two decades. He served on the Board of Directors for more than eight years, chaired both the Electric Utility Regulation Committee and the Judicial Review Committee, and led the CFEBA as president from 2021 to 2013 and again from 2015 to 2018. He also served on the boards of directors of the CFEBA and FELJ.
His service extends beyond the bar. Bob is a longtime volunteer with Wills for Heroes, providing legal support to military veterans and first responders. He has also contributed his time to Maryland parks and recreation programs and served as a trustee and Vice Chair of the BlackRock Center for the Arts.
“This recognition is deeply meaningful,” Bob said. “I consider it to be one of the highest recognitions an energy attorney can receive.”
Bob has devoted more than 30 years of his career to advancing energy law and serving clients. At McNees, he chaired the Energy & Environmental Group for over 12 years, guiding the team through significant growth, and now serves as vice chair of the firm’s Executive Committee. His practice spans state and federal regulation of electricity and natural gas supply and delivery, as well as petroleum product pipelines, with a focus on representing large energy consumers and advising on renewable energy projects and enforcement matters. His leadership within the firm reflects the same commitment to service and mentorship that he brings to the broader energy law community.
