Utility/Regulatory Accountant (Columbus, OH)

We are currently recruiting an experienced Utility/Regulatory Accountant to support our Energy & Environmental Group in Columbus, OH.  Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting preferred), a strong utility and regulatory accounting skillset, and strong Excel and Excel modeling skills. A working knowledge of wholesale electricity markets and energy and utility procurement (electricity and natural gas) is preferred.

Responsibilities include:  reviewing and analyzing electricity and natural gas rates, terms, and conditions; reviewing utility accounts for accuracy; reviewing and modeling energy consumers’ utility and supplier invoices; tracking, reviewing, and analyzing electricity and natural gas prices (wholesale and retail); performing calculations and developing energy-related price models, under the direction of attorneys and other specialists; designing models and spreadsheets to facilitate energy price analysis; and providing information to attorneys and technical specialist regarding energy rates, terms, and conditions impacting the price of service.

Candidates must possess strong accounting skills; high proficiency in the use of technology for manipulation and preparation of large raw data sets, analysis, calculations, communication, preparation of reports, and research; ability to work independently – organizing and prioritizing numerous projects/tasks with minimal supervision; strong attention to detail and accuracy, while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; strong interpersonal skills to communicate with and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys, co-workers, and staff; and the ability to interact with others respectfully and provide excellent client service.
