Research Analyst

Position Type: Professional Staff

McNees Wallace & Nurick is looking to add an experienced Research Analyst to the Firm’s growing Information Center supporting McNees practice groups with legal research, competitive intelligence, and current market awareness. The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the research team and will provide timely and informative research and analysis to attorneys and professional staff across the firm.

The firm is flexible on the location for this position, including a hybrid schedule from any one of our office locations.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide research/analysis and create research reports/summaries related to competitive and business intelligence
  • Perform online legal research using Lexis, Practical Law and other databases
  • Assist and educate attorneys with legal research tools
  • Set-up, maintain, and curate news feeds and alerts on clients and industry targets to be distributed through news aggregation software
  • Prepare legislative histories
  • Proofread and cite check briefs and legal documents
  • Administer the acquisitions process by ordering resources, coordinating subscription renewals.

Skills and Experience:

  • ALA accredited Masters’ degree in Library/Information Science or equivalent level of experience, legal experience a plus
  • Excellent research, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills as well as ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to develop strong and effective working relationships with team members, other administrative departments, and attorneys at all levels
  • Working knowledge of business and competitive intelligence research and business and legal terminology
