Business Development Manager (Pittsburgh, PA)

We are currently seeking a business development manager to work across all firm practice groups to drive new business opportunities, expand and strengthen existing client relationships, and raise the profile of our individual attorneys in all locations. In this role, the successful candidate will be a valued business development partner, strategist, and coach.

The business development manager will report to McNees’ Chief Practice Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactive business development: develop and implement strategies to cultivate new business, especially within emerging markets.
  • Cross-selling: utilizing data, develop and implement strategies to promote cross-selling firmwide.
  • Pitches and proposals: prepare pitch, proposal, and client meeting materials; offer recommendations for strategy and approach; create customized responses to RFPs with thoughtful ideas and creativity to shape strategic efforts.
  • Execute one-on-one coaching meetings with attorneys to optimize new business efforts and inform on business development best practices.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing team to develop customized and targeted marketing deliverables.
  • Create long-term client engagement plans and strategies.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of firm capabilities, attorney expertise, and clients.
  • Determine strategies for events and webinars including attendee targeting and content creation.
  • Provide ROI analysis on business development initiatives and utilize feedback to advise future recommendations.

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in professional services business development or marketing, preferably in the law firm environment.
  • Strong project management, business planning, leadership, coaching, and analytical skills as well as ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Outstanding relationship building skills are required, including the ability to establish credibility and trust with attorneys and senior executives at the firm.
  • Proactive self-starter and strategic thinker with the ability to take ownership of various projects and complete with little supervision, while also retaining attention to detail.
  • Innovative, resourceful, with the capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience with CRM, information systems, and database functionality is a strong plus
