Nick’s practice focuses on the commercial construction industry where he regularly represents project owners and contractors involved in complex construction projects. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Nick worked as a project manager for a large commercial general contractor serving the Washington D.C. and Baltimore metropolitan areas. Nick brings his first-hand industry experience to his construction law practice.
Nick is particularly experienced in the drafting of commercial construction contracts; in this capacity he counsels numerous large institutions spanning a variety of industries. Nick has served on a task force to promulgate industry standard construction contract templates, and he remains up to date on recent developments in this area. In addition to contract matters, Nick also counsels trade associations that represent manufacturers of construction materials.
When disputes arise, Nick represents clients before federal and state courts as well as arbitral and administrative tribunals. Nick is well-versed in a broad array of construction law disciplines, including the various prompt payment statutes, prevailing wage and MBE/WBE/DBE requirements, surety bonds, and he has a particular interest in mechanics’ lien matters. Nick regularly lectures and publishes articles on mechanics’ lien claims, project delivery methods, OSHA matters, and construction contracting strategies.
