David Burnett practices in the McNees Corporate & Tax, and Healthcare practice groups. He works with a variety of healthcare entities including inpatient hospital facilities, ambulatory surgical centers, solo and concierge medicine practitioners, and physician’s groups, addressing a wide panel of issues from regulatory compliance, transactional matters, mergers & acquisitions, and risk management to general practice issues such as contracts, affiliations, reorganizations, governance, No Surprises Act, nurse coaching, and other matters.
This involves research and familiarity with federal issues such as CMS guidelines, Medicare and Medicaid compliance, Stark and Anti-Kickback statutes, and HIPAA and HITECH compliance, as well as state and local statutory and corporate compliance.
Before joining the firm, David worked as an intensive care unit registered nurse, working contracts at hospitals in six different states, including entities such as Johns Hopkins University and the Cleveland Clinic.
David graduated from the University of Akron School of Law with a certificate in health law, concluding his studies while working full-time on the front lines of Detroit’s COVID-19 ICUs.
