Courtney M. Wentzel

Profile

Courtney is an associate in the Litigation Group.  She received her J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law at The Pennsylvania State University and her undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University.  While in law school, Courtney served as an Articles Editor on the Penn State Law Review.  She also competed on the National Trial Team, where she was inducted into The Order of Barristers.  Courtney was recognized for her high academic achievement, and was invited to join the Woolsack Honor Society, an honor set aside for those students who remain in the top fifteen percent of their law school class for five consecutive semesters.

Prior to joining McNees, Courtney practiced at a small state and local tax litigation firm, where she focused her practice on cases involving sales, use, property, realty transfer, franchise, and Public Utility Realty Tax Act (PURTA) tax litigation issues, and achieved favorable tax refunds and settlements for clients in various industries. During law school, Courtney clerked at the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office, and for a Central Pennsylvania-based general practice firm, where she was exposed to many different areas of the law.

As an associate member of the litigation practice group, Courtney provides an effective and collaborative approach to the practice of law. Courtney not only consults with other members of the litigation team, but also with attorneys from the many other practice groups McNees offers to its clients. Courtney zealously advocates during every step of the litigation, and believes in always presenting as friendly and professional. She appreciates client goals, and achieves practical outcomes that work for you or your business.  She has experience in various areas of the law including, but not limited to, guardianship matters, white collar crime defense, insurance defense, general tort liability and contract defense, debt collection, vehicle dealer defense, real estate litigation, and landlord tenant matters.

What does Courtney do for Clients?
Courtney has expertise in guardianship and Orphans’ Court practice and procedure. Her background in criminal justice and courtroom experience, helps her navigate the judicial system and obtain favorable outcomes for her clients. Courtney is always willing to act promptly and work diligently to preserve clients’ rights and secure the best outcome. As a member of the firm’s pro bono committee, she works closely on the Vista School Pro Bono Project – providing legal services for parents of disabled adult children to obtain guardianships.
