James P. DeAngelo Appointed President of Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network

HARRISBURG, PA (March 28, 2016) – McNees attorney James P. DeAngelo was appointed President of the Board of Directors of Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, effective March 16.  Jim will serve a two year term.

“Jim has been a part of this organization for a long time; his dedication and commitment to this organization, and to pro bono generally, is tireless,” said colleague and friend Barbara Darkes.

With a long-held interest in pro bono service and delivery of legal services to the poor, Jim has chaired the Dauphin County Bar Association’s Public Service Committee since 1997. He dedicates numerous hours of pro bono legal advice to individuals and families in central Pennsylvania. In 2013,  he was nominated for the Legal Services Corporation Award by MidPenn Legal Services, a non-profit, public-interest law firm dedicated to providing access to civil legal services to low-income resident in an 18-county area.

He currently serves as President of MidPenn Legal Services and the Community Justice Project, and is a Past-President of the Dauphin County Bar Association.

Jim is Co-Chair of the firm’s Litigation practice group.   He joined McNees Wallace and Nurick LLC as a business litigator in 1992 after a clerkship with the Pennsylvania Superior Court.

He has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America©, Commercial Litigation, Banking and Finance Litigation, Mergers and Acquisitions Litigation, since 2008.  He is also a recognized Pennsylvania Super Lawyers®.

Jim is a graduate of Temple University and received his Juris Doctor degree from the Dickinson School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in the State of Pennsylvania, before the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle District and Western Districts of Pennsylvania; before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

He is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, Cumberland, Dauphine and Luzerne County Associations.
